So, I hope I am doing this correctly:

Quotes:

Lankshear and Knobel, pg 30
· We are presently at a point in the historical-cultural development of literacy where we don’t really know how to deal educationally with these new literacies. What seems to be happening is that the day to day business of school is still dominated by conventional literacies, and engagement with the “new” literacies is largely confined to learners’ lives in space outside of school and other formal educational settings...”

Bruns, pg16
· “Intercreativity constitutes a significant step beyond mere interactivity-a step made possibly by the use of non-hierarchical, many-to-many media: in intercreative environments, users collaborate (often in large communities) on the development ad extension of shared informational resources of common interest, rather than merely interacting with the material already available: they are taking into their own hands the tools to create context.”

Discussion:
One question that I always ask myself as I read through the readings is how “new” literacy can be learned inside the classroom, as well as the outside community and how can one not try to confuse a child, who has grown up with only one type of literacy? I guess this all boils down to a teacher and his/her mindset and how they are related to technology, in order to draw an interest in students.
I really like this quote by Bruns because I feel that this is something that we can take and apply it to schools and children, to have children learn properly. In this article I was able to see a connection between production and children, and how one can take something as the cycle of production to children, and how to teach them.

Questions:
Do you think that with out the appropriate mindset one would not be able to function in the digital world?
Why do you think the younger generation is so much advanced in technology than the older generation?
"Second-phase automation is defined as when you fundamentally change the underlying process and do things in a completely new way." What are some ways that we can use second-phase automation in schools today and even with in classrooms that you teach?
How can teachers incorporate new technology, even when they are considered to be a “new comer” to it?
